Offset Printing

Offset printing produces the highest of quality and resolution on a large amount of materials. It can be used for small and large production requirements. 80% to 90% of all brochures and corporate stationery is produced by this process. These days for small production requirements the digital process is the preferred method of production. As technology continues to advance larger and larger production runs will be possible with the digital process.

Digital Printing

The digital process can produce a similar range of products as the offset process. It is mainly used for smaller production runs. When producing smaller runs the digital process has many advantages. Most digital processes have little or no drying time requirements making it ideal for fast turn around times. There is also no need for expensive film and plates making it very practical for temporary or short runs. In addition to this most digital processes can produce variable data for your direct mail campaigns. The digital process is still expensive on larger production runs and is limited to a much smaller range of materials than the offset process is. As technology continues to advance, improvements in both these areas will continue to be made.

Screen Printing

The screen printing process is used in a number of specialised areas of the printing industry. It has the advantage of being able to print on almost any substrate, including unusual shapes. Some of its uses are the printing of non absorbent stocks like vinyl’s and plastics, small run large size posters, T-shirts and clothing, and anything outdoors where fading of colours and weather resistance is an issue. The nature of the process does not allow it to print very fine detail.
